A cloud covered sky, a man cloaked in black stands in the middle of a town.
From the Journal of Tristan Ellis:
My name is Tristan, and I come from a mysterious place. I was noticed by a group of armored men as I wondered about this new material world. I explained this to the guards, that I came from the Shadow Plane, and they seemed confused. They pointed weapons at me, and I ran down an ally way. A pile of boxes impeded my way, and the guards gave chase. I saw a man in gold cloaked in black appear out of the ally. The tall man walked up to me and I informed him of my origin.
These guards are carrying sticks with a blade attached. It looked like a strange spear to me. They threw insults at me, calling me a “fetchling”. They sprung at me with the spears, but the darkness hid me. I sliced up with two daggers, but only cut with one. Blood dripped down the man’s cheek. The Tall Man countered their attack and slammed his elbow into their face. That guard’s nose exploded with blood. He backed away, blood dropping down his face. The guard in front of me tried to strike me again, but he tripped on a box and his weapon flew in front of me. I put the daggers aside and grabbed his weapon, but my lunge was pathetic. The man in front of me kicked into the staggered guard and knocked him down. The man in front of me pulls out a rapier. He pierces the veil of darkness, but fails to contact my grayish flesh. I slashed at him with the strange spear and forced him into a weakened position. I stabbed the spear at him for a final strike, but I felt my finger slip on a trigger. An explosion erupted in front of me and knocked the man down. I recovered a sack of lead balls from the fallen guards. The man beside me identified them as “bullets”.

Kazuo, the tall man, explains that the bullets are for the “Musket” that I snatched. I heard more guards approaching and made my way to the roof by climbing on the boxes nearby. The boxes fall over out of the ally from under me, but I grabbed the edge of the roof in haste. Meanwhile, Kazuo jumped up and landed on the roof, as if he could fly. He helped me up and we fled together. Aisling, my black owl familiar, spied around. She informed me of a commander figure and these guards using ladders to reach the rooftop. I jumped, slipping once again. However, Mestama was kind to me. I caught the ledge and barely lifted myself unto the roof. Kazuo makes it look easy, jumping across the gap like nothing. The owl relays to me that the guards said “The commander is opening fire!” He seems to have a double-barreled gun, from the looks of it.
I hid in cover as I awaited the Crusaders who spouted nonsense about this god Aries. They seemed intent on punishing anyone who didn’t fit their mold. Aisling flew down towards the crusaders’ commander, distracting him. I hear a strange crackle as a warrior of some kind attacks the Crusaders from below.
I saw a hand poke out, but failed to shoot it. These weapons were very inaccurate. Kazuo fired a chain at the one who was climbed up. He fell off the roof, unto his brethren. I reloaded again, jamming the ball into the socket with this awkward rod. Aisling swooped by another warrior, slicing his face with her bloody talons. The commander figure fired a shot that deflected off Kazuo’s heavy armor.
I tried to fire a shot, but I came closer to hitting an unknown warrior with a strange glowing sword. It glowed a deep blue and sliced through the skin of the guards like paper. It seemed to me like something using maybe magic or possibly technology. He pointed the sword at me, and then swung at another gunslinger. I counted two heads that he sliced clean off with his glowing blue sword. Aisling slashed her claws into one of the guards nearby and he fell over in pain from his various wounds.
I reloaded once again, concentrating on getting a fair shot this time. Kazuo jumps down and brawls with the fallen Crusaders.

Aisling flies unto my shoulder and I put away this cursed weapon, it did me no good. I shoved it into my backpack. The blade on the end, called a bayonet, slid off and I decided it would work just as well as any knife. I then jumped with grace to another rooftop to get close enough to use magic. I whisper some grim words and weaken the will of the strongest one present. However, he was able to fight back against my charm.
I sent my owl after this commander, but she has a hard time dealing with him. Afterwards, she dove down and sliced at his back to get a clean hit.
Drankinrus, the strange warrior from before, arrives after climbing up to the roof and distracts me from my spell casting. The warrior explains that he was attacked for believing in his own goddesses. He says he comes from another world, and he agrees with my plight. We decided to work together, at least for the moment.. I dazed one of the nearby crusaders with a flash of light and asked him to cut them apart.
Kazuo continued to knock out the crusaders below. Drank (as we called him for short) jumped down to engage the remaining holy fighters. I follow pursuit, but this musket blade struck only the rocky street. I’m convinced that these mortal weapons are working against me! Afterwards, I tried to slice at the commander, but his Armour deflects the blade.
Aisling flew over to Kazuo, who mended her body with a radiant touch.
Aisling was trying to fly to my aid, but I heard a screech as she was attacked. In anger, I slash at the man in charge with two blades, drawing blood. Drankinrus’s attacks are avoided by the skilled commander. I tried to run around him, but he smacks my head before I slice at his. Kazuo glides over to provide me with a burst of healing energy. I recommend that he heal the warrior. Kazuo recognized him as an “Akaran” warrior from another dimension. This “Akaran” and the commander clashed swords, the commander had a flaming sword. This was such a fantastic sight, like a clash between gods. I weaken him with my spells as they clash with blazing swords. However, the commander managed to get a solid hit on Drank and knocked him down, burning his skin. Kazuo moved in to knock the commander out with his bare hands. The commander twirled in the air from the force of the punch. Harold, the commander, reveals him name and guards swarm around him. Kazuo used a smoke bomb and we escaped into the nearby woods.
